Site Type: Burial Chamber or Dolmen
Country: Portugal (Viseu)

Anta da Arca submitted by Alta-Falisa on 28th Mar 2015. Strangely enough, this remarkable dolmen is not signposted anywhere. On the site, a board laconicaly says "Anta". However, even reduced to its few surviving components : a capstone, three uprights and a few smaller stones, Anta de Arca (the name of the nearby village) is one of the most elegant in Northern Portugal. Site Type: Burial Chamber or Dolmen
Country: Portugal (Viseu)
Visited: Would like to visit
Anta de Pendilhe submitted by Alta-Falisa on 30th Mar 2015. I confess that the photo by João Carvalho, July 2005, is far superior to my modest contribution.
While there myself (March 2015), I met a shepherd. It was very heart-warming to realise how pleased he was to see a foreigner, speaking some kind of broken Portuguese, showing so much interest for a monument along which he passes every day.

Mårhøj Jættestue submitted by holger_rix on 2nd Aug 2011. One of the finest examples of the well preserved danish passage graves.
The biggest tomb of the island Fyn.
The beautiful passage grave Mårhøj lies on a natural hill and
therefore looks extra impressive. The 10 m long and about 2 m wide tomb
was excavated in 1868 by the local farm owner Sun.
He found some human bones and an amber bead as the only
remains of Neolithic burials.
In the corridor stood an urn with burnt bones, but it must have been
from the Late Bronze Age or per...
