As with most Maltese temples, this has been reconstucted. I have been unable to find a readily-available description of exactly what is original.

The village itself is in very defensive position at the top of the cliff which surrounds it. The small black dots at it's base are actually people!

Mynydd Meiros Cairn submitted by sem on 27th Dec 2013.
Mynydd Meiros Cairn.
Meiros could derive from the Welsh meirw, thus meaning Mountain of the Dead.
To the right can be seen another structure which appears to have gone unnoticed by the archaeos.

There are meant to be 9 barrows here. We found plenty of lumps and bumps plus the odd stone that seemed to have been placed with a purpose. But even using a GPS, we could not be sure if we had found anything.

It was with a delicious taste of irony that I discovered the current occupants of the site of (destroyed) Simondston Cairn produce among other things... standing stones!
