Bannau Sir Gaer

Site Type: Stone Circle
Country: Wales (Carmarthenshire)
Visited: Yes on 6th Mar 2005

Bannau Sir Gaer submitted by sem on 6th Mar 2005. It's cold and windy here, from which I conclude that Neolithic man did not carry out his ceremonies naked (unless he was made of sterner stuff than me).

Morfa Bychan
Date Added: 11th Jun 2012
Site Type: Chambered Cairn
Country: Wales (Carmarthenshire)
Visited: Yes on 21st Aug 2006

Morfa Bychan submitted by sem on 21st Aug 2006. Only the uprights remain from this chamber, but there are many candidates for the capstone lying nearby.
This site is very reminiscent of King's Quoit in nearby Manorbier with a line of stones, in this case natural, behind the chamber.

Visited: Yes on 17th Aug 2010

Carnau'r Garreg Las submitted by sem on 17th Aug 2010. From a distance the twin cairns resemble the double peak of Pen y Fan, which is not visible from this area.
Could this have been intentional?

Country: Wales (Carmarthenshire)
Visited: Yes on 19th Aug 2010

Garreg Lwyd Marker Stone submitted by sem on 19th Aug 2010. This erratic appears to have been raised on smaller boulders and it's long axis aligned with Garreg Lwyd and Carn Pen-y-Clogau.
A good example of a "secret sign".

Garreg Lwyd Cairn submitted by sem on 19th Aug 2010. Looking from the N, the partial destruction and re-modelling of the cairn is obvious.

Brynaman submitted by sem on 6th Oct 2010. Brynaman Fig 1. As in my Secret Signs theory, these rocks, bleached by peat, stand out against the grey background of the natural rocks.

Carn y Gigfran submitted by sem on 27th Oct 2011. Cairn of the Raven
At least six other cairns are visible on the ridge just south of here. But the old gods stubbornly refused to lift the cloud and allow me a photograph of them.

It's dimensions are given as length=55m, width=20m and height=3m, but it is not until you see the two people standing to the left that you realise the true scale and magnificence of this monument.

Tair Carn Isaf submitted by sem on 12th Feb 2012. Cairn A
Cairn B can be seen on the horizon. The difference in altitiude suggests that this cairn is not part of the grouping.
