Date Added: 28th Nov 2018
Site Type: Stone Circle
Country: Wales (Conwy)
Visited: Yes on 1st Sep 2017
Hafodty submitted by TimPrevett on 29th Jul 2004. The view of the 3 most damaged stones - split and fallen; the other two are standing, but have had chunks knocked out of their far faces.
This circle is not destroyed, though has been considerably damaged. 3 stones remain upright, the tallest at about 4 feet, the other 2 around 2.5 feet. 2 are fallen, and 1 has been blasted apart, and unsurprisingly now lies prostrate, with a large piece missing. Diameter is around 36 feet.

Entry No.2 Date Added: 28th Nov 2018
Site Type: Stone Row / Alignment
Country: Wales (Conwy)
Visited: Yes on 1st Sep 2017

Gwytherin Churchyard submitted by Johnny on 27th Nov 2001. Gwytherin Churchyard Stones, Clwyd. GR: SH 877 615). In the circular churchyard of this ancient site stand a row of four small stones aligned east-west. They stand about 3m apart from each other and one bears a Latin inscription of a style dated to the 5th or 6th century AD. Some authors believe the stones to have been erected in this early Christian period. Others, however, believe the row to be much more ancient in origin with the inscription being re-use of a bronze age (?) row as a personal ...

St Digain (Llangernyw)
Date Added: 28th Nov 2018
Site Type: Ancient Cross
Country: Wales (Conwy)
Visited: Yes on 1st Sep 2017

St Digain (Llangernyw) submitted by TimPrevett on 23rd Sep 2007. At St Digain's, Llangernyw, there are two ancient cross incised stones on the south side of the building, both crosses fave west. The design on the western stone is near impossible to make out without a guidebook to hand. There are also two rough, unshaped stones which appear out of place amongst the memorials nearby. St Digain's also has a yew reputed to be 4,000 years old, which is worth a look.

St Celynin's Well submitted by kelpie on 27th Jun 2004. This well sits in the corner of the churchyard of an isolated little church in a beautfiul part of Wales (SH 7511773696).
The well used to be roofed (1622) and the existing walls have been recently rebuilt, the stone benches may also be later additions.
The well has a reputation for curing sick children.

Country: Wales (Conwy)

Cefn Coch (Penmaenmawr) submitted by TimPrevett on 7th Apr 2004. This Circle is easily missed. As it is usually approached from Druids' Circle, it is not visible until you actually go over a slight rise just SW of the neighbouring Moelfre Stone Row / Alignment which can be mistaken as 278.
When reading descriptions of Circle 278 as a wide circular rubble bank, with fallen uprights, then coming across this (which I have missed on 2 previous visits to this area), it is unmistakeably Circle 278.
This is looking to the North East from the bank of Circle 278...

St Winefrides Well submitted by KiwiBetsy on 26th Nov 2004. Outdoor rectangular bathing pool containing the submerged St Beuno’s Stone which can be seen in the photo nearer to the front of the pool than the steps and hand rail in the rear left corner. The well chamber behind the pool is a fine example of late perpendicular architecture creating an almost square crypt covering the wellhead. Around the well, graceful columns rise to support an elaborate vaulted roof which in turn supports St Winifrede’s Chapel above. Once, steps led from the well up...
