The southernmost of the three promontory cliff forts south of Treyarnon Bay, has a large double ditch and bank which cuts off the entire headland between Pepper Cove to the north and Warren Cove to the south, whilst a further single ditch and bank is present at about halfway out onto the headland.

The ditches have been cut right down into the solid rock.

Whittlestone submitted by thecaptain on 9th Jan 2007. In the centre of the village of Lower Swell, just off the village green to the northwest side can be found the Whittlestone.
It sits on a grassy bank with a little sign stating that it was once part of a neolithic burial chamber, and had originally been further up the hill near to the churchyard.

Whitestone (Lee) submitted by theCaptain on 4th Jan 2015. I found a place to park and got out for a look, and there was the large white quartz stone, stood in the paddock just above the roadside.
It's probably about 8 to 10 feet tall, and cannot be seen from the nearby roadside due to the thick hedge, but it can be seen (in winter anyway) from further up the hillside

It was once thought to be an iron age hillfort, but study of the structures has shown it to be a Neolithic enclosure, adapted over the millennia.
