Glauberg Fürstengrabhügel submitted by AlexHunger on 6th Jun 2006. Celtic Chieftains Tumulus in Glauberg dating to 500 BCE, just south of the Hillfort. The site was discovered in 1988 when anomalies showed up on the aerial photography. The content of the tumulus had drifted into the henge like ditch and processional way suroounding the mound and leading South. The grave in the middle was empty, but artifacts, in particular a complete life sized limestone statue were found in two other graves within the ditch. The mound was restored afterwards.

Interior of the camp is to the right, on the far side of the bank. There has been some recent clearance of beech trees from this part of the earthworks.
