Holstebro Døeshøje submitted by SandraOudshoff on 26th Aug 2023. Map of Doeshoje barrows
(View photo, vote or add a comment)
Log Text: This is an amazing collection of barrows on the outskirts of the small town of Holstebro. The barrows are part of Oldtidsvejen, a prehistoric trail roughly west to east through northern Jutland, along which 560 barrows remain today and around 1300 have been levelled. Most mounds are from the Early Bronze Age, 1700-1100 BC. I can testify that driving around this part of Denmark you will continuously see bronze age barrows on the roadside and on hilltops around you.
