Højen Langdysse | Long Barrow | Denmark | Nordjylland | Visited | 12th Jun 2023 | 2 | 4 | 4 | Long barrow with a few scattered stones still standing or lying around, to the side of the langdysse and on top. Beautiful scenery.
Vester Præstegård Langdysse | Long Barrow | Denmark | Nordjylland | Visited | 10th Jun 2023 | 2 | 4 | 4 | There are no remaining stones visible on or around this langdysse, and it is situated in the middle of a grain field so we could not inspect closely. With the blooming corn flowers it felt like we were in a van Gogh picture though, so worth the trip.
Hagebro Sorthøje Jættestue | Passage Grave | Denmark | Midtjylland | Visited | 10th Jun 2023 | 4 | 5 | 4 | Beautiful jattestue, missing its capstones and cover layer, allowing to see how they are created. Relatively low chamber and nice passage with some dry-walling still remaining. Surroundings are also beautiful.
Holstebro Døeshøje | Barrow Cemetery | Denmark | Midtjylland | Visited | 10th Jun 2023 | 4 | 4 | 5 | This is an amazing collection of barrows on the outskirts of the small town of Holstebro. The barrows are part of Oldtidsvejen, a prehistoric trail roughly west to east through northern Jutland, along which 560 barrows remain today and around 1300 have been levelled. Most mounds are from the Early B... Read More |

Lihme Hovedgård Runddysse 2 | Burial Chamber or Dolmen | Denmark | Midtjylland | Visited | 2nd Jun 2023 | 4 | 5 | 4 | The runddysse itself is now known as Vendal Hoj and climbing it gives an amazing view of the surrounding area and the fjord. The hill has no stones anymore to suggest it was once a runddysse. Close to the hill is a beautiful cist grave.
Lihme Hovedgård Runddysse 1 | Burial Chamber or Dolmen | Denmark | Midtjylland | Visited | 2nd Jun 2023 | 3 | 4 | 4 | Bit of an overgrown hill, no stones or markings left to see that it was actually once a runddysse.
Sjørup Plantage Langdysse 2 | Long Barrow | Denmark | Midtjylland | Visited | 29th May 2023 | 2 | 4 | 4 | This is the same site as Sjorup Plantage Langdysse 1 - the coordinates refer to opossite ends of the same langdysse. It is situated in a nice forest. No stones remain on site. There is a footpath cutting through one end of the langdysse.
Sjørup Plantage Langdysse 1 | Long Barrow | Denmark | Midtjylland | Visited | 29th May 2023 | 2 | 4 | 4 | This langdysse is situated in a nice forest. No stones remain on the site, nor any sign of the chamber that the Danish archive mentions. The hill is cut in two by a forest path.
Fjelsø Stendos Langdysse | Long Barrow | Denmark | Midtjylland | Visited | 7th Jun 2023 | 3 | 4 | 5 | Four big stones remaining standing, some smaller stones have toppled over. A bit ruined, but still a nice site to visit because of atmosphere and the surrounding landscape.
Hvam Langdysse | Long Barrow | Denmark | Midtjylland | Visited | 7th Jun 2023 | 3 | 4 | 3 | Unimpressive long barrow, you can barely make it out in the field of grain.
Troelstrup Langmosehøj Jættestue | Passage Grave | Denmark | Midtjylland | Visited | 7th Jun 2023 | 2 | 3 | 3 | Pretty much destroyed and inaccessible during the growing season because it is in the middle of a corn field. We could not see any jattestue, just one or two haphazard stones.
Vester Tostrup Vathushøj Langdysse | Long Barrow | Denmark | Midtjylland | Visited | 7th Jun 2023 | 3 | 4 | 5 | Langhoj of 60 meters in length, still impressive even though all the stones are gone. Our visit was made more charming by a friendly bunch of goats who were excavating the side of the Langhoj. Close by also some nice bronze age barrows.
Skinderup Langdysse | Long Barrow | Denmark | Midtjylland | Visited | 7th Jun 2023 | 2 | 3 | 3 | Langdysse with only 2 small kerbstones left, access through a field
Vester Tostrup Fruergard Stenkiste | Cist | Denmark | Midtjylland | Visited | 7th Jun 2023 | 1 | 3 | 4 | No stone cist to be found at the location, one stone left only but not sure this was part of the cist.
Borup Hede Runddysse | Burial Chamber or Dolmen | Denmark | Midtjylland | Visited | 7th Jun 2023 | 4 | 5 | 4 | One of a group of Bronze Age barrows in a superb location in a charming heath field in a beautiful area of Jutland.
Ettrup Jættestue | Passage Grave | Denmark | Midtjylland | Visited | 7th Jun 2023 | 4 | 5 | 4 | Delightful site, one of the rarer double passage graves in Denmark |
