Log Text: Car parking is available at NC 72361 39899. From here it is a very long walk to the stone row. Follow the path leading south from the parking area to NC 72471 37400. Then follow the forestry fence to NC 72559 36476. Climb the stile and then follow the forest ride. It may be best to keep to the left hand side. At NC 71904 35164 cross the forest track and follow a second ride to a forest clearing at NC 71715 34933. A standing stone close to this point is not part of the row. From here the row is about 130m to the west. Having visited the row it is a long way back and you need to allow plenty of time. Alternatively if you have access to a bicycle it may be possible to follow forest tracks from a car parking area at NC 69045 42692. Either way this is not an easy row to get to.

Lochbuie Kerb Cairn

Lochbuie Kerb Cairn submitted by Nick on 2nd Nov 2003. Set in a group of trees around 100m NW of the stone circle, this rather ruinous kerb cairn still retains sufficient structure to make it worth a look. It is about 6.5m across, and has a 'false' entrance to the SE. The stones on the northern and southern arcs are still pretty much in situ.

Longstone Barrow Row submitted by thecaptain on 18th Mar 2008. There should be three stones in a row here. I spent much time searching around amongst the tall wet grasses and heather, but I couldn’t find a single stone.

Machrie Moor 10

Machrie Moor 10 submitted by AngieLake on 8th Sep 2008. Stones at the SW of the Moss Farm Road (or Machrie Moor 10) circle. The stone on the left resembles the head and shoulders of a hooded person. It faces into the circle, and towards the NE and Midsummer sunrise. There's a dip in the hills at NE, and my ritual movement dowsing headed out of the circle in that direction. Its inner face also seems to have a circular carving.

Machrie Moor 5 submitted by jeffrep on 30th Jul 2013. Machrie Moor 5, sometimes called "Fingal's Cauldron Seat," consists of two almost perfectly preserved rings of granite boulders. The Machrie Moor Stone Circles are located at the end of a 1-1/2 mile track that is off of the A841 (some 200 yards south of the bridge where the main road crosses the Machrie Water) and three miles north of Blackwaterfoot in the western part of the Isle of Arran in North Ayrshire, Scotland.

Madacombe

Madacombe submitted by thecaptain on 27th Sep 2006. Madacombe stone row, Exmoor. Its in there somewhere. Could I find anything ? No chance !!!! I found nothing at all, wading around in waist deep wet grass and heather. If there are any stones to be found here, they are well hidden under the wet moorland growth. I did however, get soaking wet and a twisted ankle for my efforts !

Log Text: Car parking is available at SS 83523 42234. From here follow the footpath north westward for about 500m. The row is north of the footpath. This row does still survive. It was seen by Exmoor National Park staff in 2018 and I have seen the photographs. I am going to try again when I am next on Exmoor.

Maen Mawr submitted by AngieLake on 8th Aug 2005. This view of Maen Mawr looks north towards the even-shaped flat-topped mountain that blocks the north aspect of this lovely symmetrical valley. The larger Fan Brycheiniog mountain is out of sight to the NW of this view. Behind me is Cerrig Duon circle, overlooking the alternate E/W folds either side of the southern slopes of the valley from the semi-circular south end of this platform.

Maen Tarw

Maen Tarw submitted by Johnny on 10th Oct 2001. Maen Tarw Standing Stone (SN 722 833) Maen Tarw standing stone is close to the Buwch a'r Llo stone pair (cf) but just within the forestry block, again adjacent to the road. It is a small block of unusual appearance, probably due to severe weathering over the years! Whatever function it originally served is no longer known but it may have, in some way, been linked to the Buwch a'r Llo pair.
