Log Text: Permission must be sought to visit this stone row. The stones now stand in the middle of the Macrihanish Dunes golf course and visitors should seek permission at the Club House Car at NR 65908 24231. When visited in 2017 permission was readily given with a smile. Head north from the club house following the main path for about 240m.

Log Text: Car parking is available at NS 01247 37583. From here carefully cross the road and follow the Goatfell foot path to NS 01053 37736 where the left fork in the track should be taken. Follow this path to NS 00638 37754 where all three stones can be seen. Return to the path and continue until the road is reached. Turn left and walk downhill. The eastern stone is in the field on the left and the two western ones in the the field on the right.

Log Text: A visit to this row can be combined with a trip around the Lagavulin Distillery. Parking is available at NR 40348 45757. From here follow the track north and then west to NR 39370 46232. Turn left and follow the track to stone row. Other standing stones can be visited enroute.

Ballochroy submitted by howe on 9th Jun 2009. The three stone row viewed in a traditionally reported solistial alignment with the paps of Jura. In fact, antiquarial descriptions of the site show that the row was linearly aligned with three cairns and a further standing stone directed toward a hill on the mainland. Onlt one cist of the cairns is now visible.

Log Text: Car parking is available at NR 72587 52099 which involves a long walk north along the beach or highway to NR 72992 52713 where the track to the stones leaves the public road. Alternatively you may wish to drive up the track and seek permission to park closer to the stones. The stones themselves are easy to find and are relatively close to a prominent modern farm building.

Log Text: Car parking is available at NR 50672 64747. From here follow the forest track to NR 51986 64770. Enter the forest and walk uphill until you reach the small clearing containing the stones. Access from the north is likely to be hampered or prevented by the deer fence. Whilst no ticks were encountered during the visit it would be wise to take particular care when visiting this row.

Standing Stone Near Ballinaby This tall stone is clearly visible from the road to the north of Loch Gorm, but is hidden from view on the path leading in from Saligo Bay. It's worth the walk. There's a second smaller stone in the next square, just visible in the left-hand side of this shot below a rocky outcrop. Log Text: Parking is available at NR 52170 66255. Be careful not to obstruct any other vehicles. From here walk west along the track. In the summer access to the stones is only available through high bracken. At the time of the site visit the area around the stones which is clear of high vegetation had significant numbers of ticks. Please check your clothing regularly.

As ever various theories surround the placing and use of the stone. However in 1994 Geophysic surveys by the "Time Team" suggest that there may have originally been a line of stones marking the way to Jura. Log Text: Parking is available at NR 84994 92222. From here walk through gate and head north across the field to NR 84910 92315. A small burn will need to be crossed. Follow the well marked footpath entering the field containing the Dunamuck, South stone pair and then walk north west alongside the field boundary. A farm track should then be taken to NR 84580 92595. At this point turn right and head towards the standing stone visible some 350m to the north east.

At this point take the track leading downhill to the right. Follow this to NR 97310 95031. From here follow the fence east to NR 97534 95056. The stone row is visible below you from this point.
