Spectacular views abound, with panoramic views to the Tal Y Fan mountain to the south, the Great Orme to the east, and Anglesey to the west.
Access is questionable; the 'volcanic plug' from which was taken microdiorite or augite granophyre is on top of a ridge which is still being quarried on its east and north sides for rocks of different geological specifications. The outcrop can ...

Glynsaithmaen Field submitted by vicky on 18th Jun 2002. The field at Glynsaithmaen where two stone circles linked by an avenue once stood according to antiquarians. Many large boulders now lie along the edge of the field close to the road.

Yordas Cave submitted by andy_h on 27th Apr 2004. Previously a Victorian Showcave in which evidence of early human habitation was found. A wonderful place to spend an afternoon exploring with a torch. The highlight being the underground waterfall chamber at the back of the cave.

A panoramic view of the Cockpit Stone Circle which according to Magicmap ‘includes a circular kerbed stone bank 2.8m -11.2m wide and up to 0.5m high which encloses an area approximately 27m in diameter. There are 27 (?) standing and recumbent stones set largely into the internal face of this bank, thereby creating the stone circle. Ballochroy submitted by howe on 9th Jun 2009. The three stone row viewed in a traditionally reported solistial alignment with the paps of Jura.
In fact, antiquarial descriptions of the site show that the row was linearly aligned with three cairns and a further standing stone directed toward a hill on the mainland. Onlt one cist of the cairns is now visible.

Carnasserie Stones submitted by Tom_Bullock on 26th Feb 2005. A Pair of Standing Stones in Argyll. They are lozenge-shaped and taper to heights of 8'7" and 8'10". Aligned NNW-SSE they stand 7'9" apart with the taller stone at the SSE end.

From the A92 running north from Glenrothes, turn east onto the un-numbered road for Star and Kennoway. 100m along this road is a sign for the Balbirnie housing development, turn in here and about 150m/200m along, where the road curves right, you will see the circle just below you.
